Happy Monday everyone! I feel so happy to be back to our regular scheduled programming over here on the Hey Gorg blog. With the craziness that was my birthday, last weekend's amazing wedding, an entire week dedicated to giveaways and then a birthday surprise weekend (which ended up being a surprise visit from my parents planned by hubby; marking the first time we've seen one another since Christmas. Eeek!) it's safe to say I feel refreshed and ready to rock this week with even more prettiness than ever. Also, I just wanted to send another big thank you to everyone who sent me happy birthday tweets, texts, emails, comments and calls. You all know how to make a girl feel so completely lucky and loved. And without further ado...

I am completely smitten with this vintage peach wedding sent over from Belathée Photography. Jolene, the sweet bride, wore a gown we're not afraid to admit we've all fallen in love with (yup, that's Melissa Sweet's 'Fern') and the flowers are something straight out of a dream. Add in all the pretty pale pink touches and the spiffiest vintage car I've ever seen and voila, you get this beautiful celebration to kick off the start of your week. {From Jolene, the bride} Brad and I got to have the wedding that we both wanted. We wanted a wedding that felt intimate and cozy. Brad and I could have easily had a 150 to 200 guest wedding but it wasn't what we wanted. We wanted to share this special day closely with loved ones. I didn't need an 'audience' of people I didn't really know or hardly ever see. I wanted to look around the candle lit table at all those people who mean the most. We tailored the wedding to suit our personalities so a garter/bouquet toss, dollar dance, and not seeing each other before the wedding were traditions that didn't feel right to us. If you want a fabulous wedding, hire fabulous vendors. Our vendors were beyond amazing. I love them and will forever be grateful for the incredible work that they did. Also, hire a wedding planner that is lovely and supportive. My fairy godplanner was a dream and I felt like I didn't have to worry about a thing. This leads me to my last piece of advice, relax. Relax and enjoy.

Ontario RBG Wedding by Rachelle Rousseau Photography

If you're just joining us now (why, hello there!) then you missed the fabulous engagement session from this morning, featuring this incredibly cute bride and groom. Melissa and Derek were married under a tent at the Royal Botanical Gardens in Burlington, Ontario (I've been there and it's amazing, for reals) and besides having a super good looking bridal party they had beautiful florals all arranged by the brides mother herself. Melissa is one of the girls that has a contagious smile and an aura about her that makes me wish we could just go for lunch together. That smile! What did I tell you? Completely contagious!

Priceless. Rachelle tells me that this was one of the most touching moments of the day when Melissa's Dad saw his daughter as a bride for the first time. The photos above are so sweet and moving. I think every father dreams of the day he gets to walk his daughter down the aisle, no?

{Advice to future brides} Remember this day is for you and the groom, enjoy every moment of it because it goes by in the blink of an eye! As you are walking down the aisle, take a second to look at all of your guests looking at you (really neat feeling having all these eyes on you at one time holding their cameras) and if something goes wrong, don't stress about it, only you will know as your guests don't know every detail! At dinner, take a moment to sit back and look at all of the guests who have come there for you and your husband; it truly is amazing!

{Biggest Obstacle Planning} For me personally, it was handling the stress three weeks prior to the wedding discovering that we were double booked and our ceremony was in the wrong tent. Things have a funny way of working themselves out. If we didn't discover this by accident, it could have been a lot worse on the actual day, which turned out to be perfect.

{Fun Fact} Our limo forget to pick us up at 1:00 am which is something we laugh at now! Also, our photographer really broke out the adventurous, up for anything kind of mood during both our engagement session (spiders and all) and the wedding so we were up for anything on the honeymoon and we swam with sharks! And I am adding this in here myself, Melissa, but one of the couple's photos was awarded an Accolades of Excellence in the 2010 WPPI Second Half International Photography Competition. Dreamy Michigan Beach Wedding by Harrison Studios

I think I've finally nailed down my favourite aesthetic and colour palette when it comes to weddings. Vintage hues, simplistic yet lovingly-created details, show-stopping gowns, handmade touches and adorable, clearly in love brides and grooms. Sigh. I came across this wedding via the ever fabulous Ruffled and when I read that the wedding was in Grand Rapids (where Apb is from) and that the newlyweds went to Michigan State which also happens to be my Alma matter, I knew I just had to share the gorgeous images by Laura and Ben Harrison of Harrison Studios, with you. Even though some of you have already seen this wedding on Pearls Events blog (I've seen a few of you guys in the comments section!) scroll on to soak it all in again. And let your heart melt, blogettes! P.S. That dress? It's a blush colour. And it's a Vera. And it's absolutely perfect. 

What an incredible memory to have of your first look. I get goosebumps when I see these photos.

Over at Ruffled, Liz talks about how her and Chris had little time to devote to planning their wedding because they were both full time students trying to concentrate on their studies. I can completely relate to how she must have felt because not only was I a full time student during Andrew and I's entire 2.5 year engagement but we were separated by 13 hours thus making any sort of planning endeavor entirely difficult. Regardless, Liz was a smarty pants and hired an event planner. And I am sure she is oh so thrilled with her decision; her wedding was incredible. Now on to a few details :)

I'm going to say it again; but that dress is unbelievable. And the cake. The cake is unbelievable.

Pretty Pink Wedding by Maggie Harkov

I have a confession to make. I'm in love with Maggie Harkov. For months and months I've been visiting her blog for new posts and updates, dying to see anything she has to share. Her work has this certain light and style to it that is so undeniably dreamy and beautiful. When she sent me over this adorable and pale-pink infused wedding she asked if it was what I was looking for. Uhm yes please and thank you very much. Not only is everything about this wedding absolutely gorgeous but Jessica and Calvin are one of the sweetest couples I've ever laid my eyes on. I actually went through every photo to count which ones Jessica didn't have that infectious half laugh half smile across her stunning face and let me tell you, there weren't many :) Scroll on and soak in the New Jersey Shore prettiness!

GORGEOUS. Look at that happiness! That's how every bride should feel on her wedding day!

Picture perfect ceremony backdrop with those fab white curtains. So gorgeous with the purple flowers and blue water. 

And on to the details we go! The reception was held at Lake Mohawk country club and the venue has some amazing chandeliers and huge windows the let in this beautiful natural light. Jessica and Calvin had two different centerpieces in different heights - a small wide vase filled with pale pink blooms and taller cylinder vases filled with white stems. Paired with my all fave gold Chiavari chairs the whole look was feminine, soft and glamorous.
